How the ASBFEO can make small biz grow

Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman

On 1 February 2016, Minister for Small Business, the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP, announced the appointment of Kate Carnell to the role of Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO). Kate commenced in her role on 11 March 2016. 

Kate ran her own small businesses for 15 years before becoming ACT Chief Minister in 1995 for a five year period. Prior to her appointment she held the position of CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She has also served two years as CEO of beyondblue and four years as CEO of the Australian Food and Grocery Council.

Kate will provide an overview of the work being conducted by the ASBFEO, and will outline how her office can help small businesses grow. Kate will also provide an insight into the issues that were raised during a recent nation-wide small business consultation project undertaken by the office.
